At One Village, Solo Parenting Support, we’re here to walk beside solo parents through every step of their journey. Our mission is to uplift and empower families by offering heartfelt support, helpful resources, and a strong sense of community—for both parents and their children.
Solo Parenting envisions a world where every family—regardless of structure—has access to the support, resources, and opportunities they need to truly thrive. This platform is a free, welcoming space created especially for solo parents, offering guidance, connection, and community every step of the way.
Hi, I’m Jody — solo mum, storyteller, and founder of One Village.
I’m a 43-year-old solo mum to a spirited 6-year-old boy, a bouncy 2-year-old Labrador, and a 10-year-old cat with a mind of her own. Our little household is full of chaos, cuddles, and more snacks than I care to admit.
My journey into solo parenting began when my son was just 6 months old. At first, his biological dad and I co-parented, doing our best to stay connected for his sake. But by the time my son turned 2, his dad walked away completely — no warning, no explanation, just silence. I was left not only holding the emotional weight of his absence but also trying to figure out how to gently help my son understand something I didn’t fully understand myself.
In those early days, I searched high and low for others who had been through something similar — solo mums and dads who could relate, who could offer more than just advice, but solidarity. What I found instead was a lot of silence. A lot of strength, yes — but also a lot of isolation.
That’s why I created One Village: to build the kind of community I needed and couldn’t find. A place where solo parents feel seen, heard, and held. A space where we lift each other up, share resources, and remind each other that doing it alone doesn’t mean doing it without support.
If you're a solo parent — however your journey began — you’re welcome here. This village is for you.
Solo parenting is the courageous journey of raising children without the consistent support of a co-parent—emotionally, physically, or financially. Whether by choice, circumstance, or loss, solo parents carry the full weight of nurturing, guiding, and providing for their families.
At its heart, solo parenting is a powerful act of love and resilience. It calls for strength, compassion, and community. That’s why we advocate for a world where solo parents are seen, supported, and celebrated—not just for what they do, but for who they are.
